In response to some of the readings we will be discussing in the class, you will be asked to submit brief written summaries or reading quizzes (for instance, there will be quizzes on each chapter from Crider’s Office of Assertion). The bulk of this grade, however, will be composed of responses to Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies, by Marilyn Chandler McEntyre. Each response to McEntyre should include the following: 1) a brief summary (50-75 words) of McEntyre’s chapter; 2) your assessment of her stewardship strategy—do you agree? why? why not?—supported by specific examples from your own observations; 3) two practical changes you plan to make in your lifestyle or your reading and writing as a result of engaging with McEntyre’s chapter. Each entry should be approximately 250 words.
