During our discussions, we’ll cover a wide range of topics that we won’t have time to investigate fully. If something strikes your imagination, ask me if it would be suitable for this assignment (or I may simply assign you to present on a topic!). You’ll have about a week to do some reading and research and put together a 5-minute class presentation on it. Bring a brief handout, provide factual information, outline at least two positions that reasonable people take on the matter, and include two discussion questions. Topics may be issues such as drought in sub-Saharan Africa, hunting regulations in National Parks, CAFOs, philosophy of risk, food waste, government agricultural subsidies, etc.
