Italy Journals

During our trip, you should keep a journal of what we do and see, what we eat, and what impressions your experiences make on you. At the end of the trip, you will revise these drafts and turn in three one-page entries to me.

  1. Describe a culinary experience. Pay attention to the craft, the people, the setting, the origins, and any other details that relate the meal to its wider contexts.
  2. Write an ekphrastic poem responding to a statue or artwork that we see.
  3. Respond to an architectural site. Note its history, dimensions, shape, purpose, and effect.
